My Thoughts
Beds, Breakfasts, & Beta Blockers is a delightful and humorous murder mystery novel. The story follows Ro Bergeron, a woman on a quest for self-discovery who faces various challenges along the way.
Ro has a unique and amusing background. Raised by her grandparents, she enters adulthood lacking basic skills, like boiling an egg or nurturing a plant. However, after inheriting her childhood home following her parents’ passing, she decides to open a bed and breakfast for both people and their dogs. This decision sparks a series of events highlighting her desire for independence and personal growth, which is central to the plot.
Franklin’s writing style is humorous, drawing readers into Ro’s quirky world. As Ro welcomes her first guests at the start of her new venture, the story sets a warm and inviting tone, laying the groundwork for unfolding her initial plans, including a hint of villainy.
