The victim is identified as Leah Ellerman, a local landlady who was renovating the canalside cottages opposite the pub. She’s been dead for two weeks. So why hasn’t anyone reported her missing?
Leah was evicting her tenants so she could skyrocket the rent. And this wasn’t taken well by the local community . . .
So it’s not a case of who wanted her dead, but who succeeded.
Jo must watch her back. It’s clear that the culprit will do anything to keep their secrets buried .
My Thoughts
Jo, a recently trained investigator, agrees to help the proprietors of a bar where a body was discovered. It turns out that the neighborhood did not particularly like the local landlord; thus, the discovery of her death did not come as much of a shock. The premise fascinated me instantly. The style of writing and characters were both top-notch. I highly recommend it to all cozy mystery lovers!
