Join in the Top Ten Tuesday fun! Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This week’s theme is Reading Goals I Still Want to Accomplish Before the End of the Year. My actual bookshelf is getting fuller by the minute. This doesn’t even count the books I have on my Goodreads TBR list. I did manage to finish my Goodreads challenge, so I am proud of that. I was not on the January 2023 goal theme, so I am just going to wing it this week.
1. Read the physical books I have been buying
I have been buying books like I don’t have a million on my Kindle to read. Sometimes I feel like I will never see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am a quick reader, but geez with all I have at this point I will be saying the same thing at the first of next year!
2. Get some of the eBooks on my Kindle read
This goes in hand with #1 really. I just have so many books on my Kindle to read it’s unreal.
3. Stop reading a book if I don’t like it
I am one who tends to finish a book even if I don’t like it. I have to stop doing this. It’s just hard for me to let people down, i.e.; authors, publishers, etc. I just need to force myself to just put a DNF.
4. Stop paying attention to what others are grabbing to read
What I mean by this, is if I see that someone is reading a new release I feel like I have to get it right now and read it too. I need to read what is on all of my shelves.
5. Read more backlist books
I have bought some books that are older that I have really enjoyed. Sometimes I feel like I have to follow the crowd (lol) and read all the new releases coming out, my goal on this one is to just be me, and read what I want to read!
6. Stop feeling like I have to request all the books I see on NetGalley
I tend to feel like I have to get on NetGalley every day and request books. I don’t want to do that anymore. I want to read my physical books and Kindle Unlimited books, that I have bought or requested. I feel like if I don’t request books from NetGalley all of the time, I will get an F or something, LOL!
7. Stop joining every linkup meme I see or hear about so I can spend my time reading
Lol, I don’t know why I do this but I do. I have joined so many I almost forget which ones I am supposed to post in a week. I need to just chill and do my reading and reviewing and stop joining every single one I run across.
8. Listen to more Audiobooks
I tend not to request or buy many audiobooks. The last one I listened to was Finders Keepers by Natalie Barelli. And that was a really good book. I don’t know why so don’t judge but I would rather read the book. I feel like my imagination works better, does that make sense? Oh well, it’s just a weird thing for me.
