My Thoughts
JK Franko has proven himself a truly talented writer, showcasing his knack for building compelling characters and weaving intense conflicts within them. Franko’s ability to effortlessly keep the reader engaged from the very beginning, establishing a solid connection and then skillfully guiding us into the emotional depths we crave.
One of the standout characters in this book is Mary, a captivating and multi-dimensional protagonist who follows a relatable pattern of rationalizing toxic relationships or avoiding the problems that inevitably arise. Through expertly executed flashbacks, we are taken on a journey through Mary’s life, witnessing the pivotal moments that shape her and ultimately lead to her life-altering decision to take care of Johnny.
Franko’s writing is remarkable, with numerous lines etched into the reader’s mind long after finishing the book. The exploration of morality versus legality in Mary’s introspective moments is particularly thought-provoking, forcing us to question our beliefs and choices.
Overall, I am satisfied and thoroughly impressed with this book. Beneath the surface of Johnny’s death lies a wealth of depth and complexity, and Franko’s novel is an exceptional and masterful exploration of it. Despite its length, the story progresses swiftly, each page filled with purpose and significance, making it a worthwhile and engaging read.
